Lost
It's mind boggling how swiftly things can change. After a year together, a year of traveling and adventure and the making of plans... It's done. One argument. That was all it took and everything unraveled.
Admittedly, I was a dick. A fact which I not only admitted to, but apologized for. Let me go back to the beginning...
I was in the Gator, when guess who should walk in, but Cam. Yes, my Cam. The other half of me that I hadn't seen in over three years. The Cam that I more than half feared had finally met her maker. When I saw her I did what I always do when I see her. I laid a lip lock on her.
I was happy to see her. I couldn't wait for her to meet Sawyer. I just knew the two of them would get along. I couldn't have been more wrong. Sawyer arrived shortly after Cam did. I made introductions, and well, things seemed to get awkward as the moments ticked by. Enough so that Cam left to avoid making the situation any more awkward.
A week later, Sawyer and I are at a pub in the Pike Place Market, and I invite Cam to join us. As soon as Cam shows up, Sawyer starts pulling away from me and this time, it's Sawyer who leaves. Cam and I continue to visit and as the conversation progresses, one thing becomes clear. Sooner or later, Cam's going to grow old and die, and I'm not.
I couldn't have that. So I turned her. No, I didn't consult Sawyer, and I should have at least asked her opinion first, since it would be a major change to our lives. I'm a dick. What can I say? I admitted that and apologized for it.
But it didn't end there. No, Sawyer packed her shit and moved out. Tried to give her ring back. Things have gone downhill since, despite her and I having a long talk and promising to move forward with the new dynamic. As soon as Cam joined us after the conversation was over, Sawyer grew cold and distant.
Cam tried to lighten things up by... yes, licking her face and she really more than half expected a slap across hers. What happened, however, was that Sawyer went for Cam's throat. Cam responded in kind, made it clear that she wasn't having that, and that was when I stepped in and put a halt to it. Which had Sawyer throwing her whiskey glass at me.
Believe it or not, it went downhill from there.
So the wedding is off.
And there's this hole inside of me.
